Waverley Toyota was proud to host the Toyota Good For Footy Night at Mazenod Panthers Football Club, with Leigh Montagna and Nick Dal Santo in attendance.
Marking this special occasion, the evening consisted of an exhibition match between 2 ALL ABILITIES local football teams, the Mt Waverley Demons and Mazenod Panthers. Both teams competed for the prestigious Waverley Toyota Challenge Cup. There was a 15 minute warm up and 2 x 10 minute quarters with a mixture of division 1 and 3 (3 being severely disabled) from both sides.
The SEN team and Brett Thomas was in attendance, as well as Tim Nield from AFL Vic, to extend the excitement with grass roots footy and the community.
During the game family, friends and supporters had an opportunity to play on the giant interactive inflatables (thanks to AFL Victoria) or feast on a free BBQ from our friends at Grill’d Chadstone.
A big congratulation to this year’s winners of the prestigious Waverley Toyota Challenge Cup the ‘Mt Waverley Demons’.
After the match all players, family, friends, supporters, crowded into the Mazenod Club Rooms for speeches, Q&A session, presentations and giveaways (thanks to Waverley Toyota, SEN, Arnott’s and Fedele’s). Well done to the Mt Waverley Demons on winning the inaugural ‘Waverley Toyota Challenge Cup 2017’.
Both teams are non-profit organizations whose purposes are to initiate access for people with an intellectual disability to the game of Australian Rules Football. Both teams are trying to make a difference in the local community by: Treating everyone equally, exercising for health, changing community attitudes and main stream integration of those with a disability. Both teams are part of FIDA (Football Integration Development Association). Participation in Australian Rules Football enhances life skills and develops self-esteem, confidence and improved health.
Dealer Principal, George Stefanou, added: “Waverley Toyota is a proud supporter of both the Mt Waverley Demons and Mazenod Panthers. We hope to raise awareness as well as encourage more players with all disabilities to be involved in football and hope that more companies come on board to support these great non-profit organizations that work so hard to provide players with an environment that promotes fitness, fun, friendship and a sense of belonging.”
